Self Care Sunday - Aromatherapy
With so much currently going on across the world, I thought I'd bring some special Self Care Sunday vibes to you all and share some peaceful and calming techniques I used to relax my mind and body.
Aromatherapy is something I've been indulging in for years. I love the calming sense of relief and release of tension that comes with organic fragrances enveloping your home and body.
WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY
Aromatherapy, also commonly known as essential oil therapy, is a holistic healing treatment widely used to aide and improve the health of your body, mind and spirit. Using aromatherapy enhances your physical and mental health by incorporating essential oils and natural plant extracts, many of which have beneficial values.
HOW DOES AROMATHERAPY HELP
Aromatherapy works through the sense of smell and your skin absorbing the product. There are tons of benefits when using essential oil extracts, for example, managing pain, aiding with restful sleep, reducing stress and anxiety, soothing sore joints, headaches and pains.
The most common use of essential oils are through diffusers, creating a scented mist that spreads throughout your space and allows you to easily breathe in without being overly fragrant and avoiding skin to oil contact if you have more sensitive skin.
Many body lotions and creams also include extracts of plants and certain oils to assist with pain or soothing the skin. Of course you can always add essential oils to your moisturizing routine or rub onto your skin if you don't have any sensitivity to fragrances and oils!
My favorite use of essential oils is within candles! I almost always have a candle burning in my home, giving off a beautiful fragrance while aiding my anxiety and providing me a more relaxed and calming environment.
My favorite essential oils that I float towards more frequently are lavender, eucalyptus, lemon, peppermint, and tea tree, But there are tons out there that smell amazing and have many beneficial factors as well!
Interested in shopping for essential oil candles? My favorite store is Bath & Body Works for their candles! And these days, you can also shop for essential oils through Amazon, TJ Maxx, Young Living, and tons of other boutiques and stores!
Drop me a comment and let me know if you use aromatherapy and what your favorite oils are!
